Christalene de Kella
After completing her matric in 2004, Christalene had no idea what job she wanted. She decided to train as an entry level wildland fire fighter and has been progressing ever since. In the same year, she went on an intensive Type 2 Crew Leader Course and opened a new base in 2005. In 2008, Christalene was promoted to stock controller for the WoF Advocacy Department and in 2009 was appointed as Media Community Liaison Officer for the Southern Cape region and she is still growing in terms of her career. Working on Fire has had a positive impact on Christalenes life.
Buyiselwa
Buyie started as a wildland fire fighter recruit in Plettenberg Bay in 2005. Her leadership qualities were quickly recognised and she went on to guide her team to victory at the annual Western Cape Provincial Camp, setting them apart as the top team in the province. She has been through intensive training within the programme and is now the Media Community Liaison Officer for the Eastern Cape.
Leonie Rooy
Leonie Rooy, also started as a wildland fire fighter in 2004. Her passion and dedication for her work saw her progressing through the ranks to Type 2, Type 1 Crew leader and then a Training Instructor. Today she is a Regional Manager in Western Cape. In 2007, Leonie was part of a fire fighter exchange to America.
Nolukanyo Babalaza
Nolukanyo was recruited in 2003 as a wildland fire fighter and after qualifying as a Crew Leader 1 was later promoted to Admin Assistant and soon after that to Debtors and Creditors Clerk. She was able to get her Driver’s Licence and has attended skills and leadership training. "Working on Fire" she says " has changed my life!”
Makhosi Dladla
Makhosi Dladla completed her Matric in 2001. Not having any money for further studies, and unemployed until 2006, she joined WoF as a wildland fire fighter in 2007. She went on to complete a Type 2 then Type 1 Crew Leader Training then advanced to become an Instructor at the WOF Nelspruit Training Academy. Makhosi is now the Media & Community Liaison for Zululand. "I am what I am today thanks to WoF ", she says.

- Advocate compliance with the NVFFA
- Provide teams to assist in veld fire fighting
- Train, skill and provide work for previously disadvantaged men and women
- Educate communities to be FireWise
